The Influences of Islam on West Africa
Last week we looked at the West African Empire of Ghana. This week we will explore the influences of Islam on West Africa. Please review the daily guidelines and read the attached PDF. The lessons are set-up to take around 30 minutes each day. I recommend following the daily guidelines. This way you get a little bit of work done each day, and you can still be free the entire weekend. :)

For an EXTENSION, you have the option to read INVESTIGATING PRIMARY SOURCES, IBN BATTUTA AND MEDIEVAL MALI. This primary source reading gives a first hand look into the culture and lifestyle of West Africa from the eye's of an outside traveler. It is well worth the read!

Hi everybody! Last week we learned a little bit about Later African Civilizations. This week we are going to focus on a specific African culture, the Kingdom of Ghana. You will find the following attached items:
The directions for each day of the week, The reading material about Ghana, and a Ghana student Notebook. Please locate, identify, and open these three items now.
Next, you will see the, "Watch This Video First"-overview, and then one video for each day of the week.
On day 1, you have two videos to watch, then, one video each day after that.
READING AND WATCHING VIDEOS: You have choices: You can read the attached PDF by itself, you can read the PDF and listen to me read on the video at same time, you can listen to me on the video and read from the shared screen, or you can just listen to me read in the video.
Each video covers the material to answer one learning target each day.
Create a google document to answer the questions (type the questions in, then answer them using complete sentences), unless you figure out how to write the attached Student Notebook PDF. Either is fine.
So, your directions: Open the attached PDF documents and look them over, watch the, "Watch me First Video", then watch Day 1 video and answer the Daily Learning Target. Watch one video and answer a DLT each day on a google doc.
